T-Safe®
Reliability of the copper IUD
T-Safe is a hormone-free copper IUD suitable for all women of childbearing age. According to the NHG Contraception Guidelines, among all copper IUDs, T-Safe is the most reliable. T-Safe is the only registered contraceptive IUD with proven effectiveness for up to 10 years. The chance of pregnancy is about 0.6% to 0.8%. This is because an IUD cannot be accidentally forgotten, eliminating the risk of user error. Of every 1,000 women who use the copper IUD for one year, about 6 to 8 will still become pregnant.
Possible side effects of a copper IUD
- Longer menstrual periods
- Heavier bleeding during menstruation
- More cramping during your period
- Spotting between periods
- Increased vaginal discharge — this is harmless
T-safe reimbursement
For women aged 18 to 21, contraception is covered, but it comes out of your deductible.
For women 21 and older, contraception is at your own expense, unless you have additional insurance.
