Costs for maternity care and insurance

Het Geboorte-atelier is a subsidiary of Kraamzorg Een Mooi Begin. It’s important to register “Kraamzorg Een Mooi Begin” as your maternity care organization with your health insurance provider.

We have direct or indirect agreements with all health insurance companies for the provision of maternity care. All indicated hours are covered by your insurer, except for the statutory personal contribution. If you have supplementary or extra supplementary insurance for pregnancy, check your policy to see whether this personal contribution is fully or partially reimbursed. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Number of maternity care hours

Your maternity nurse and midwife will assess — together with you — the number of maternity care hours you need. This assessment is based on the National Indication Protocol for Maternity Care (LIP), which ensures personalized care. The evaluation takes place at three key moments:

  • during the intake;

  • shortly after birth, by the maternity nurse in consultation with the midwife;

  • on the third or fourth day of the postpartum period, by the maternity nurse in consultation with you and the midwife.

The duration of care depends on your specific situation. If you are breastfeeding, you are normally entitled to 49 hours of maternity care over eight days. If you are formula feeding, this is 45 hours. If you still require care on the ninth or tenth day after birth, your midwife can issue an additional indication for this.

Examples of situations where extended care may be required include recovery after a cesarean section.

We have contracts with all health insurance companies, which ensures that maternity care is always covered by your health insurance.
